A missing screw got us caught screwing

I was about 18. I had just got myself a new double bed. I had been dying to get my boyfriend over to try it out, unbeknown to my poor Dad who had spent all day putting it together. “I just want to show Dave” I had said, although lets be fair, he knew exactly what I really meant, he was just in denial.

“It won’t be ready tonight Lisa, its missing some screws. You will have to sleep on the sofa again, just for tonight”. I had been on that damn sofa all week whilst I waited for Dad to put it together, I was definitely not waiting another night to test the bed out with my boyfriend, but just agreed with my Dad.

Dave came round later that evening, and we snuck upstairs. We got down to it in no time and just as we were reaching the good bits, we heard a faint creak. “This bed has been put it together right?” Dave asked, sounding a little worried. “Yeah, Yeah course it has” I said, desperate to get back into it. We went for another couple of minutes before another loud creak and then a crash as we went straight through the wooden slats in the bed and hit the floor.

We heard loud footsteps coming up the stairs and horror set in as I realised we were not going to be able to get up in time. The door flung open and my poor Mum and younger brother stepped inside, with worried looks that turned to shock as they saw us on the floor, stark naked, trying in vain to cover our bits!
