The year of the love rat
23/02/10It was Chinese New Year this month but forget about Year of the Tiger, 2010 seems to be Year of the Love Rat. With three male celebs being named and shamed in the press for their randy schoolboy antics, it seems that no matter how successful and beautiful a woman is, she still can’t count on bagging a decent fella.
The nation’s sweetheart, Cheryl Cole, was dealt yet another humiliating blow when it was revealed her wayward hubby, Ashley, sent nude photos of himself to a glamour model. Since then, 5 women have come forward claiming he cheated on Cheryl with them. The Sun has reported that Cheryl has dumped Ashley via text saying ‘Move out. It’s over’.
Another footballer ousted as a cheat this month has been former England captain, John Terry. Terry cheated on his wife Toni with fellow team-mate’s ex, Vanessa Perroncel. This little indiscretion cost Terry his England captaincy and stands to lose up to £20 million over the next four years.
Finally, cheery Northern TV presenter, Vernon Kay, has been branded a love rat due to him sending ‘sex-texts’ to 5 different women. Kay, who is married to the gorgeous Strictly Come Dancing presenter, Tess Daly, made an on-air apology last week during his radio show. Daly has been photographed wearing her wedding ring so it appears she is sticking by her unfaithful husband.
Depressingly, an estimated 60% of men will cheat on their partners at some point during their lives.
