Mark Twain owned sex toys

Mark Twain is the famous American author, who is best known for writing classic books including Huckleberry Finn. If you glance at photographs of him, you would imagine Twain to be a genteel old man. Yet this image is shown to be not entirely true in Twain’s autobiography.

Twain requested that the memoir should be kept secret for 100 years after his death. Now the book is finally being released. In it, Twain reveals that a friend of his once brought him two vibrating electrical devices. These devices are widely believed to be antique sex toys.

It would not be entirely surprising if Twain kept sex toys. He was known to be a sexual man, and once wrote this rather cringe-worthy note to a friend: “Please forward one dozen Odorless Rubber Cundrums—I don’t mind them being odorless—I can supply the odor myself.” Perhaps he would have benefited from Sweet Release Male, which helps to improve the male odour during sex.

Not the only author...

You might think that Twain was pretty unique, in the sense that no other old-school authors have confessed to owning sex toys. But another famous figure of literature, T E Lawrence, who penned Lawrence of Arabia, was rumoured to be a fan of sadomasochism. Perhaps some of today’s most famous authors have sexual skeletons in their closets, which they just aren’t telling us about?

Antique vibrators

Antique vibrators have been in the news a lot lately. Last month we reported on the discovery of the oldest vibrator that has ever been found. It is 3,000 years old, made of stone, and was unearthed in a cave in Germany.

Experts think it was used not only as a sex toy, but also as a weapon against intruders. Seems those cavemen and women were more feisty than we thought.
