Alan Titchmarsh talks sex toys

He is best known as the presenter of gardening shows. Yet despite his green and wholesome image, it seems that there is a sexy side to Alan Titchmarsh.

Before Valentine’s Day earlier this year, the presenter's ITV show took a look at the latest sex toys to get couples in the mood for loving.

While he might have thought that it was a fun idea to examine vibrators on daytime television, the viewing watchdog Ofcom have revealed that his audience were not thinking the same thing.

Apparently, Titchmarsh’s programme ranked among the top 10 shows that received the highest number of complaints this year. The sex toy segment was believed to be the thing that viewers took issue with.

Getting his hands dirty

Perhaps it was a bad idea to discuss sex toys on daytime television? Or perhaps Titchmarsh just is not cut out to go from talking about garden spades one minute to vibrators the next!

We are used to watching him digging holes in the garden. This time he seemed to dig himself into a hole in the TV studio. We are also used to seeing him get his hands dirty, but that doesn’t mean that we like seeing him talk dirty.

This is not the first time that respectable TV presenters have flirted with sex toys. On the This Morning Show earlier this year, Philip Schofield introduced a controversial breakfast time sex special programme. Sex toys, vibrators and favourite sexual positions were all discussed.

A bed was even wheeled out so that volunteers could demonstrate (fully clothed, thankfully) the sex positions that they preferred. Needless to say there would have been plenty of people scoffing on their cereal and choking on their tea while watching the show. At least maybe it helped some people to start their day with a spark.
